Little Woof Small Dog Rescue Inc. - Essex Junction Pet Shelter

Little Woof Small Dog Rescue Inc. is an all volunteer 501c3 non-profit organization whose goal is to rescue small dogs from overcrowded shelters and find them new loving forever homes. Though we do rescue local dogs most of our dogs come from overcrowded shelters in states in the South and Southwest. We are fortunate to work with Hill County Paw Pals in Hillsboro, Texas and Gina, Sarah, Becky and Yvonne in Houston, Alex in Galveston, Dianne of Animal Advocates of Kingsville in Texas, Safe Haven Rescue in Mississippi, Allied Transport in Georgia, and recently Huntsville, Alabama. Once pulled from the shelters the dogs stay in foster care for at least two weeks while waiting to be transported to Vermont. All of our adult dogs and puppies when age appropriate are spayed/neutered before adoption. All dogs are up to date with vaccinations and given dewormer, heartworm and flea/tick prevention and tested for heartworms is age appropriate before transport. After arriving in Vermont all adult dogs are tested again for heartworm and tick borne diseases and treated if necessary as well as any additional procedures required such as a dental. Flea/tick and heart worm preventative is maintained to help keep dogs healthy until they find their new forever homes. All of our dogs are placed in foster homes before adoption if they don't have an adoptive home upon arrival. In order to foster or adopt you must have an approved application. We do occasionally have adoption events where you can meet dogs before adoption. Otherwise you need an approved adoption application in order to make an appointment to meet or foster a potential new family member.
