Adoption Process

For LCHS foster pets, please email LCHS to begin the application / adoption process. You can see the pets in our care at our site on Petfinder. We are HAPPY to arrange a meeting with the pets in our care after we review an application. We do not yet have a shelter, nor an office, but we’re working on it! We don’t ask our volunteer foster homes to host visits from potential adopters until we review that application. Standard adoption fee for cats is $90. Standard adoption fee is $125 for dogs. These fees help to pay for the veterinary care that every pet gets with LCHS, Inc., and allows us to help other pets in the future. We don’t make money on adoptions - far from it. Average cost to LCHS for a pet we intake is around $240. It’s less if the pet is already sterilized, vaccinated and microchipped - and considerably more if the pet has not been cared for properly in the past, or if they’re ill or injured. We prefer to adopt out pets ONLY after they are sterilized, fully vaccinated and microchipped.
