The Lake of the Woods Humane Society takes in city, county, and surrendered animals for Lake of the Woods County, Minnesota. We are a volunteer run, not-for-profit (501c), located at 501 1st Avenue South, Baudette, Minnesota, along the Canadian border. Because we receive no funding support from national organizations your support directly benefits the adoptable animals in your community. We are a volunteer run organization, caring people of all ages and backgrounds bound by a common love of animals and their welfare. The Lake of the Woods Humane Society could not achieve its mission without the dedication of volunteers who donate their talent and time. We are always looking for animal-lovers who want to get involved. It's a great way to make a difference and make new friends.
Any perspective adopter must fill out an adoption application that will be reviewed by our approval volunteers. If you would like your adoption application to be reviewed prior to visiting the shelter simply visit our adoption application link and submit it online at www.lakeofthewoodshumanesociety.com. If a specific pet is requested for consideration the perspective adopter understands that additional requirements may be necessary to be approved based on the animal's specific needs and history. Please understand that our organization is completely run by unpaid volunteers, who dedicate their free time to help the animals find their loving forever homes. We strive to make the adoption process quick, easy, and fun! We provide as much information on each animal's history, disposition and health as we can. Once approved a contract must be signed by you and LOW Humane Society, transferring ownership to you. A $75.00 adoption fee for dogs and $100.00 puppies and $35.00-50.00 for cats and kittens is due prior to adoption.
