The Kaua’i Humane Society is a local, independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Since 1952, KHS has been serving the island of Kaua’i as its only open intake animal shelter. KHS is not affiliated with any other local or national animal welfare organization and depends on generous contributions from individuals and businesses to continue to fund programs and services that are vital to our island community and the animals we love!
Step 1: Browse our website for available pets, and apply to adopt directly from the animals’ profile! OR, if you haven’t decided who you’d like to adopt, don’t see the pet you’re interested in on the website, or would prefer our Customer Service Specialists to help match you with a pet that fits your interests and lifestyle, you can fill out the adoption application. Step 2: Once your questionnaire is submitted, a KHS Customer Service Specialist will contact you using the phone number and/or email address you have provided. After discussing your interests and providing adoption counseling via phone or email, our staff can schedule an appointment for you to visit your potential new family member, and/or schedule a dod-to-dog meet and greet as well! Step 3: At your appointment, you’ll meet with up to 3 pets you’ve chosen or been matched with by our staff members, you’ll choose your new furry family member, sign an adoption contract and pay your adoption fee. KHS also has some great merchandise you can purchase to start your pet off on the right paw! A collar and leash are required to leave with your newly adopted dog, or a carrier is required to leave with your newly adopted cat. You are welcome to bring those supplies from home if you prefer.
