Adoption Process

If you are interested in adopting one of KAR's foster animals, please complete click on the Adoption Application link located on their individual page. You will be contacted within a few days via telephone and/or e-mail by an Adoption Counselor and asked a series of questions. Please be patient with us, as we are all volunteers who donate our time. If approved for adoption, you will be invited to visit the animal at the foster home. You will have the opportunity to interact with the animal, talk with the foster parent, and mutually decide if this is the right pet for you. Please understand that submitting an Application does not guarentee you one of our foster animals. We often recieve multiple applications for an individual animal. Our goal is to match individuals and families with the right pet for a successful adoption and a lifetime relationship.

  • My message comes to the Kalamazoo County Animal Services and Enforcement to let you know Dutchess passed away; she was the love of my heart and a joy to my life that nothing compared to the beautiful kitty she was - very loving as described and talkative in sweet ways that i miss. Losing Dutchess broke my heart in that, I traveled long distance to adopt her and believed she would live out her life comfortably in good health. There were some concerns regarding her documents presented, that I had contacted the staff to let them know questions rose about it, but I could not do anything since little was given in the first place. I pray all things were made right in my last call the the manager of the office, for which I let her know I was sorry for any miscommunication regarding Dutchess' documents for which was needed. I hope you can forgive moments in time because, Dutchess is gone now and I miss her more than I can express knowing she is not with me. Thank you. M. Newsom
