K9 Companions 4 Life - Drums Pet Shelter

We are a small group of foster homes that are helping as many homeless dogs as we can. The dogs come from shelters that are often faced with euthanizing healthy, adoptable dogs simply because they have no room. Our fosters are up to date on vaccinations, vet checked, heart worm tested, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate, before leaving

Adoption Process

Our adoption process is: 1) Adoption Application. Please fill out the application. Send completed application to k9c4lifegmail.com. We will review your application, check all references, including a vet reference, then call you for a phone interview. 2) Home Visit. We will schedule a home visit, after a home visit is performed then we will schedule a meet N greet. 3) Meet and Greet. Upon approval to adopt there is an adoption donation and a signed adoption contract is required. Please understand, you may be approved to adopt but you may not be able to adopt the dog you are asking about because we match the personality of the animal to the requirements and personalityof the home. If you are looking for an animal that is laid back and easy going and you pick one that we know is extremely active......... we will not adopt that particular animal to you but rather show you other animals that will fit into your lifestyle and have the traits you are looking for in a companion. We do the home visit to ensure that the dog that you are interested in is appropriate for the house and yard size that you have. We want to make sure that the dog you adopt is a good fit for your family, your lifestyle, and your home. These dogs have come from uncertain backgrounds and we want to do everything we can to place these dogs into forever homes so they will never feel the stress of being homeless again. Our rescue is a foster home based rescue where the dogs live with families while they are awaiting their forever home. There is no shelter or building that you can visit to meet our dogs. Our foster families work with our dogs with basic obedience, crate training, house training, walking on leash, socialization, and can answer many questions about the dogs personality, character and behavior. An adoption donation is required to help cover the cost of veterinary care, which includes Heartworm Testing, Rabies Vaccine, DHLPP Vaccine, Bordatella Vaccine, Worming, Frontline Plus, Interceptor, nexguard, microchips, Grooming and of course spay / nueter.
