Island Dog International Dog Rescue is so much more than what our name indicates (Guess we should have known our love for animals would have grown beyond working internationally and only with dogs). Some things about us: We are located in Groveland Floida. We rescue all animals, not just dogs. We rehabilitate wildlife. We have master trainers available for all your dog training needs. We are all fostered based and always need fosters. We offer American Working Dog Association Certifications (Service Dog, Search and Rescue, Bed Bug and Narcotics Detection). We offer AKC Certifications.
All pets in the Island Dog Program are kept in foster homes until the perfect forever home is found for them, regardless of how long it takes. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out the adoption application form and submit it to islanddogrescue@yahoo.com along with the name of the pet you are interested in or complete our online form on the document page. Once the application is reviewed you will be notified if it is approved (sometimes we can only get to those approved if we are overwhelmed with applicants) and receive information on the second step of the adoption process. The second step of the process is the meet and greet. This is done in a variety of locations and may include meeting your current four legged friends. If we see potential between you and the pet and you decide to proceed with the adoption, we schedule a home check. At the home check the pet will have an opportunity to meet all your current pets along with the entire family. In addition, we will make sure you home is the right environment for the pet in need and we will confirm all your current pets are up to date on all their vetting. If the home check is approved, we will check your references. Once reference checks are approved we will give you the option to finalize the adoption. In some cases a trial run offer will be given or pets will go on a foster to adopt agreement due to medical reasons.
