Idaho German Shepherd Rescue is an all volunteer organization, run solely on donations and adoption fees. The rescue serves German Shepherds in need, with our primary mission to rescue dogs from overcrowded shelters in California and help them find their forever homes in Idaho. We also work with local shelters to help German Shepherds who may not be doing well in the shelter environment or have medical needs. Our foster homes provide a safe haven to German Shepherds as they make their way to quality, loving homes of their own. We are currently focused on the Treasure Valley, but hope to expand to other areas of Idaho in the future. Because we are foster-based, we do not have a physical facility and can only accept dogs into the rescue when we have fosters available, so please consider fostering to save a life!
Our adoption process is designed to help you find the right dog for your family, while ensuring each dog is placed into a permanent, safe, and loving home. If you are interested in one of our available dogs below, please fill out our adoption application. We will then contact you to begin the process, which will involve a home visit, reference checks, and a meet-and-greet with your current dogs, if any. Most of our dogs will be located in Moscow, Idaho, so you may need to bring your dogs to meet them here. Please note that we will not set up meet-and-greets until you have been approved. All currently owned dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered if over 1 year old. Please remember that Idaho German Shepherd Rescue is run by volunteers who have full-time jobs, so we ask for your patience in this process. Our adoption fees help us offset the transportation, veterinarian, and care costs of our rescue dogs. Our adoption fees are: $400 for a puppy under 1 year old, $300 for an adult dog 1 thru 6 years old, and $200 for an adult dog 7 years and older.
