Humane Society Of Young County - Graham Pet Shelter

Humane Society Of Young County

We are an open intake shelter serving Graham, Olney, and Young County. We aim to provide safe haven for unwanted animals. We provide shelter, food, vaccinations and other preventative care, comfort, enrichment and socialization for the animals in our care. We work with our local Animal Control, Police and Sheriff Department. We have the P.E.T.S. satellite clinic on site monthly to offer low cost spay and neuter services and affordable vaccinations and other preventative care. Our hope is that one day our community will understand and embrace spay and neuter as the only way out of our overpopulation problem. We cannot adopt or rescue our way out of this issue. We are a 501c3 non profit organization and we rely on donations from those who care as much as we do to keep the shelter open and operating properly. We can always use volunteers and fosters. We are currently unable to take in animals from outside Young County. We have been over-whelmed with surrenders in our own county and do not have the space, resources, or manpower to take in those from other areas.

Adoption Process

Our animals are available for adoption with an approved application. The adoption fee for dogs is $110.00 and $75.00 for cats. Adoption fees include spay and neuter, DAVP and Bordetella vaccination (dogs), FVRCP vaccination (cats) rabies vaccination, deworming, microchip (dogs & cats), heartworm test (dogs over 6 mos) and Felv/FIV test (cats). You need to be 18 years old to adopt a pet. We check references before adopting a pet to a new owner and have the option to do home checks. This is to insure that the animal is going to a safe and forever home. If you are interested in one of our pets, please fill in and submit an application by pressing the button above. We are happy to e-mail, fax or mail an application to you if needed. You can also fax your application back to us (940) 521-0792. All applications must be completed fully. Please allow time for the staff to check references, etc. before the application review will becompleted --usually one business day. Meet and Greets with our dogs and cats can be scheduled once an application has been approved. If you have lost your animal please call or come in and fill out a missing animal report. We do urge you to do this as soon as you know the animal is gone. We will do our best to let you know if we have your pet, but it's always best to come check in person to be sure. Animals that come in as strays are on hold for 72 hours to allow owners time to reclaim, then become property of HSYC and can go up for adoption. Animals are not adopted out first come, first served. Applications are reviewed and the best match will be approved for each animal. Decisions of shelter staff are final. We encourage you to watch our webpage as well as our Facebook page as we have new arrivals almost daily.
