The Humane Society of the Black Hills is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has worked with the community to provide shelter and care for the lost, homeless, forgotten and abused animals for nearly 50 years.
To speed up the adoption process, please fill out one of the adoption suveys below (canine or feline), save completed form to your local computer and attach as an email to us, or you can either mail to the HSBH or drop it off at our location. Please allow sufficient time to get acquainted with the pets as well as complete an adoption survey. Completing the adoption process can take 1 hour or more, we appreciate your patience! Also, consider the commitment required to be a responsible pet owner. This commitment to your pet could last up to 15 years or longer. We encourage you to ask questions about the pet, but please be aware that the staff are caring for the animals in addition to waiting on clients, so time is limited. Weekends bring more clients and therefore are busier for staff than week days. Each animal that is adopted from the Humane Society of the Black Hills leaves with one set of vaccinations, has a nationally registered microchip, and comes with a certificate for a free veterinary wellness exam. If not spayed or neutered a deposit will be collected and once the animal is altered and proof is submitted it will be refunded. Some animals may be transported directly to a veterinarian for the spay or neuter surgery.
