Adoption Process

1. Complete an Adoption Application. Browse our adoptable animals and their profiles. When you find an animal you'd like to meet, complete an Adoption Application or in person at the shelter. All applications are time and date stamped and will be prioritized as such for those pets receiving more than one applicant. Pre-Approval. If you don't see an animal that quite fits your family and/or lifestyle, you are welcome to submit an Adoption Application for pre-approval. 2. Reference Checks & Adoption Application Approval. Our office staff will review your Adoption Application and call your references, veterinarian (if listed), and landlord or property manager (if applicable). If your application is approved, you will be notified and next steps will be planned at that time. If you applied for pre-approval, your approved application will be valid for three months from approval date. 3. Meet & Greet Your Potential New Furry Friend. Schedule a Meet & Greet to visit your potential new furry friend in person. If you decide it's a good match, there's a couple matters to consider: 1) If your new furry friend is not spayed or neutered, you'll have to wait until their surgery is completed before taking your new pet home. 2) If your new furry friend is of the canine variety, you have the option to send them to our Fresh Start Canine Training Program if they have not already been in the program. 4. Finalize the Adoption & Take Your New Furry Friend Home. Once your new furry friend has had their spay or neuter surgery, they are ready to go home. Or, if you've chosen to send your dog to the Fresh Start Canine Training Program, they'll be ready to go home when they've completed the program. Complete the Adoption Finalization paperwork and pay the adoption fee (and license fee, if applicable), and you're ready to embark on new adventures with your new friend!
