The Humane Society of Harrison County was incorporated on February 10, 1967, which means the organization has been serving the people and animals of Marshall and Harrison County for nearly 55 years. The Articles of Incorporation state, “The corporation is organized and shall be operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, for the prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief of suffering of animals and the extension of education in the humane care and treatment of animals.” The Humane Society has carried out these goals faithfully, based solely upon the donations, memorials, and honorings given by private individuals and groups. None of your tax dollars are used for the support of the Humane Society, and we are proud to say that 95% or more of the donations received go directly into the basic operations of the Society.
