The mission of Hoke County Animal Control and Shelter is to protect our citizens by active enforcement of state and local laws and ordinances and to prevent and investigate cruelty to animals. The objective of the Animal Shelter is to facilitate the placement of stray and unwanted animals into desirable homes and to establish and maintain associated policies and procedures which promote the health, care and handling, and prevent pet over population.

Adoption Process

Potential adopters can visit the Animal Shelter during normal business hours to view our adoptable pets. We do hope that you put a lot of thought into your decision to adopt. This is a lifelong commitment! Once you choose the pet you would like to adopt you will need fill out the adoption paperwork. The shelter staff will set you an appointment at one of our local veterinarians for the spay/neuter, microchip, and rabies vaccination. You can take your newly adopted pet home with you the same day you adopt, but it is your responsibility to drop them off at the vet the morning of surgery. We highly recommend that you take your newly adopted pet to your Veterinarian for a health check-up after your adoption. The adoption fee for dogs is $100.00 and $75.00 for cats. The adoption fee includes spay /neuter, microchip, and rabies vaccination. Boarding fee is $10.00.
