The Hill Country SPCA was chartered as a 501(c) (3) non profit organization in the state of Texas in October, 1997. From Day One, it was the dream of the HCSPCA organizers and volunteers to have their own shelter facility. This dream came true in 2003 when Ed and Trudy Brune offered to underwrite a new shelter facility to be named after Trudy, in recognition of her life-long love of animals. Construction on the new building began in 2004, and the animals and staff moved into their new quarters in September, 2005. The grand opening of the Trudy Brune Hill Country SPCA shelter facility was held in January, 2006.
A typical adoption goes something like this…1. View our adoptable animals online. 2. Find a dog or cat you are interested in. 3. Once you have decided on one of our pets, complete and submit an adoption application. It takes us approximately 24 hours to process each pet application. Pets do not go home the same day the application is submitted. 4. When the application has been processed, a staff member will call to let you know you have been approved, or contact you if additional information is required. 5. Upon approval, we will arrange a time when you are able to come to Hill Country SPCA. (We cannot hold an animal for more than 24 hours once an application is approved). 6. Our staff will bring your new possible companion outside into our courtyard for you to spend some one-on-one time with, so you can get to know each other. Please note, pets under 5 months CANNOT be visited with due to vaccination status. 7. As long as it is a match you just need to complete final adoption paperwork, and take your new pet home.
