The Hiawatha Animal Humane Society was established in 1971. We started out as a small organization having spay/neuter rebates available at local veterinary offices. In 2004, we reorganized and stared many new programs. Some of our programs available are Seniors for Seniors, Pets for Vets, PAWS (Pet Adoption Without Surrender), and TNR (trap, spay/neuter, return). We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that relies on donations, memberships, and fundraising to allow us to help animals in need. While we do not have a facility, all of our available animals live in foster homes, with real families, while they wait to find their forever home!

We are a small foster home based rescue in southeastern MN. We do not have a shelter or physical office. We are strictly volunteer based. All animals are kept inside foster homes where they learn to live as a happy, healthy family member.
