Heavenly Paws Animal Rescue, Inc. is a 501 (c) non-profit, all-volunteer, no-kill feline rescue. Angeline Behrendt, a trained Veterinary Technician, has provided care for sick, injured, and homeless animals for many years in her home. She founded Heavenly Paws Animal Shelter, Inc. in 2004 to expand her services and provide safe and secure homes for more cats. Heavenly Paws Animal Shelter is not a true brick and mortar shelter. We have a network of foster homes to take in and care for homeless cats until permanent, loving homes can be found, offering a second chance of a lifetime of love and happiness. We also strive to help humans understand the importance of controlling the pet population through spaying and neutering. Heavenly Paws Animal Shelter relies on private and corporate donations to help fund our rescue operations and accomplish our mission. We do not receive any government funding and no one in our organization receives any of the money that comes into our shelter. All funds are used to properly operate the rescue and provide housing, treatment, and medical care for our cats and kittens. Heavenly Paws Animal Shelter has treated and saved many cats in challenging situations, including numerous cases of distemper, as well as other serious health problems, illnesses, injuries, and some of the most severe cases of neglect and abuse. All of our volunteers have pledged to rescue as many cats and kittens from the streets as possible with the space and funding we have available. We will always be committed to saving lives, one stray at a time!

If you are interested in a meet and greet, please fill out our free application to get pre-approved to adopt. We will contact you within 24 hours of receipt, except on weekends and holidays. The adoption application is the first step towards adopting one of our special fur-babies. The adoption process involves checking personal and veterinary references, as well as verifying with the SPCA that you have not been charged with animal cruelty. If you rent, we will contact your landlord to be sure that pets are allowed. Our adoption fees are very reasonable and cover approximately $300-500 in veterinary services. Depending on the age of the cat at the time of the adoption, the adoption fee will cover the initial FIV/FeLV combo test; initial treatment for fleas, worms, parasites, and ear mites; initial distemper vaccination; and possibly rabies vaccination. Additionally, we try to ensure that all of our cats are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Adopters of kittens that are not old enough to undergo the surgery will be given a free spay/neuter certificate for one of our local participating veterinarians. We accept cash, money orders, certified checks, Paypal, and credit cards for the adoption fee. Credit card payments will incur a $5 surcharge to help cover the credit processing fees. Unfortunately, we cannot accept personal checks. Since we are non-profit, adoption fees and donations can be deducted from your taxes.
