Step 1 - Application. Adopter candidates are required to complete and submit an adoption application that will be reviewed by Gunter's Legacy Animal Rescue's Board of Directors. Step 2 - Home Check. Once the application has been completed, reviewed, and receives initial approval, we will schedule a mandatory home visit (if the potential adopter allows us to go into their home for the home check, with precautions of masks and gloves we will continue a physical home check. If not, we will accept videos, pictures, and a live home check through facetime or our technology. Please note, if you are in a rented home, we will be contacting your landlord for their written approval prior to adoption. If you are part of an HOA we will contact them for approval in writing regarding their breed, weight, and dog allowances. Step 3 - Meet & Greet. If the application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet with the potential adopters and dog(s). It is required that all members of the adoptive family must be present for the meet and greet. We will meet at a local park so that we can maintain social distancing. Step 4 - Pet Introduction. If the adopter already has existing pets (dogs or cats), we require all the pets are properly introduced by a member of Gunter's Legacy Animal Rescue. We will not adopt a dog into a home that has reached its city-mandated limit. All required steps must be completed and approved by the Board of Directors prior to finalizing the adoption.
