Guardian Dog Rescue - Moyock Pet Shelter

We at Guardian Dog Rescue work in rescuing and placing Guardian type molosser breeds and bully breeds in Northeast North Carolina and Hampton Roads VA as well as SC. We take in pregnant and nursing or orphan dogs from high kill shelters and occasional owner surrenders. Guardian Dog Rescue is also a partner with Villalobos Rescue Center in New Orleans, LA and their Swamp Dog Project. Fame to the TV show Pit Bulls and Parolees, VRC helps hundreds of dogs. Our President and founder has been a rescue friend of Tia Torres of VRC for a few years and helps out VRC when we can. We here at GDR have a vast background in the molosser breeds we rescue. Our founder has a background in veterinary medicine and animal behavior with over 25yrs in the fields along with showing and working most of our rescue breeds. All of our volunteers are knowledgeable about the molosser breeds and training for such breeds. All of our foster homes have been thoroughly checked and we make sure dogs are not left crated in a foster home for hours a day. We work to educate the public about these breeds and place them in loving qualified homes. We make sure all dogs are spayed or neutered, heart worm tested, vaccinated, and micro-chipped before placing. We also do behavior evaluations and basic training before placing each dog.

Question by Max Oliver (1 month ago): Hello. I have questions in regard to surrendering our 6 year old amstaff terrier. He is a rescue that my wife and I took in from the Williamsburg SPCA when he was 1.5 years and has lived with us and our Maltese of the same age since. We have had some behavioral issues for a few years with defecating in the house, and aggressive behavior around food. While we have handled the defecation issue since I left the military and we moved to Belvidere we still have occasional food aggression issues. We have a 3 year old boy in the house now and we fear for his safety in this regard. Can you help us in our situation that benefits the dog and our family?
