Golden Huggs Rescue is made up of a very small group of volunteers who have made it our mission to find loving suitable homes for (otherwise) displaced, abandoned, or stray dogs with golden personalities with our partners outside of New England. Our dogs have either been relinquished by their owners, found as strays, or abandoned at the shelter door. It is irrelevant to us how they have managed to find themselves in these circumstances. It is only in their best interest that we try in earnest to get them out. All of our volunteers have been involved in the rescue and placing of dogs for years. We are committed to doing our part to decrease the numbers of dogs that are euthanized at primarily southern shelters.
The first step in the process is filling out an application. We then schedule a phone interview during which we are each able to ask all our questions of each other. We then schedule a home visit. This is an integral part of our process and placement is directly related to whether we have a home visit volunteer in your area. Our thorough application process is intended to help us place each dog in its final, loving home. The process helps us learn about you and helps us work with you to find the best match for you and for the dog. The Adoption Committee determines if the application should be approved, and once approved, works with applicants to find the most suitable match. We review applications in the order in which we receive them. Since we are all volunteers, it can take weeks to process your application. If you are looking to adopt immediately, we are probably not the rescue for you.
