German Shepherd Rescue Of The Rockies - Fort Morgan Pet Shelter

German Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies (GSROR) serves the public as a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue of homeless and abandoned German Shepherd Dogs (GSD). While providing loving, temporary homes for our dogs in rescue we get them vetted and spend time getting to know them personally so we can place them in the home that best fits their needs. Our goal of German Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies is to find well-matched, carefully-screened, permanent homes and families for each dog. As a community resource, we provide nutrition information, referrals, education, training tips and other services.

Adoption Process

If you see a dog on our website that you are interested in please fill out our Adoption Application. During the application process, we will contact your references, landlord if renting, your vet and then call you for the interview. This conversation will help us get to know you better and together we can find the perfect fit for your family. If one of our dogs will be a good match we will set up a “meet & greet” so you can spend time with the dog and get know each other. We do require that the entire family be present for the showing, including any other pets you may own. We want to ensure that all members agree to this adoption, that the dog responds well to the each member of the family, and to observe the behavior of your current pet with the rescued dog. At this time we can either bring the dog to your home and complete the home inspection OR we will meet at a neutral location where a separate home inspection can be scheduled. If you fall in love with the rescued dog and the dog responds well with your family, we will discuss adoption, please keep in mind that our goal is to ensure each adoption is a good fit for all involved, especially the dog. We understand that you are excited about adding a new member to your family, but please know that we are a volunteer group and this process can take anywhere from a few days up to 2 weeks to accomplish. We will contact you by phone if your application meets our requirements and we have a dog we think will be a good fit for you. If you do not hear from us within 14 days it is not because your application has been denied but that we do not feel any of our current dogs would be a good match for what you are seeking or what the dog requires for a successful relationship. Please do not email us to find out why but continue your search for another rescued friend to join your family.
