Gerda's Equine Rescue (GER) is a Vermont based 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to rescuing horses from the unthinkable fate of being slaughter bound for human consumption. Since its founding in 2005, GER has rescued, rehabilitated, and re-homed over 1,000 horses. We embrace diversity and equality at GER. We are committed to embracing our community with a variety of backgrounds, skills and views. The more inclusive and diverse we are, the better our work will be and the more horses we can help.
Adopting a rescue horse is a commitment for the remainder of its life and we want each horse to have a loving forever home. Our adoption process is comprehensive and designed to assure the best possible match between our horses & potential adopters. Suitability is of the utmost importance in placing our horses! Adoption fees range from $200-$4000. The Seniors for Seniors program covers the adoption fees (and specific medical fees) for horses in that category. Please contact us for prices and questions. If considering adoption, please download, fill out, & submit an application to GER: GerdasEquineRescue@gmail.com -OR- PO Box 1352, West Townshend, VT 05359.
