Geauga Humane Society: Rescue Village - Novelty Pet Shelter

Rescue Village is an animal welfare agency located in Geauga County, Ohio - but we are so much more than a shelter. We are teachers, providing Humane Education programs to people of all ages across Northeast Ohio. We are students, learning about our community and your needs, and constantly upping our game. We are caregivers, delivering the highest-quality veterinary care to our animals, as well as spay and neuter services for stray and outside owned animals. We are a leader, serving as a model for other animal shelters across the United States. We are a connector, bringing together organizations, businesses, and individuals within our community to work toward our shared vision of a more humane world.

Adoption Process

If you are interested in adopting a cat or dog, we are currently open to the public on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11-4pm. When you arrive, you can submit an adoption survey for the animal you are interested in! Adoption surveys are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Adoption surveys must be submitted by 3pm. On very busy days, we cannot always guarantee same-day adoptions due to staff availability. NOTE: For animals that are in foster, interested adopters can fill out the online survey located in the animal’s bio on our website. Once the survey is received, an adoption counselor will give you a call to conduct a counseling session and if it’s a good fit, will make an appointment with you to meet the animal! During the counseling session, the adoption counselor will review important background information about the animal–including all medical and behavioral information we have on record. This is an opportunity for you to ask questions and express any concerns you may have. We’ll talk about considerations to have when welcoming your newest family member into your home and other species-specific topics. Note: If you are adopting an adult dog (not a puppy), we may require a separate meet & greet appointment with your current resident dog(s) to make sure they are compatible prior to adoption.
