Furever Friends - Rochester Pet Shelter

Furever Friends

FurEver Friends, Inc. is a nonprofit, No-Kill animal rescue run solely on volunteers dedicated to providing a better life for homeless animals through adoptions, foster care, community programs and events. We do not receive any city, state, or federal funding. We rely on adoption fees, private donations, and fundraising events for all of our operating expenses. We don’t have a traditional shelter instead all of our animals spend their time in foster homes getting ready to be good pets for their new owners. We are a 501(c)3 organization so all donations that come into Furever Friends is tax deductible.

Adoption Process

Step One: Upon application approval for adoption, a volunteer will call you to talk about the possible adoption, and schedule a visitation. The adopters will be invited to meet the animal of their choice at the foster home, the applicant’s home, or at a neutral site (ex: PetSmart, Petco, or a park). The visit will be scheduled at the convenience of the foster parent. Visitation does not guarantee that the adoption will be approved. After the visit, a volunteer will reach out to the applicant within 24-hours. During this time, the applicant has the opportunity to carefully consider all aspects of the adoption. Step Two: If the adoption is approved, a time will be scheduled for you to pick up your new family member. At this time you will be asked to sign our Adoption Contract and you will receive a copy of the animals health/vaccination record.
