Fur-get Me Not Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization in Ohio founded October 2015 and is funded by private donations. The organization is dedicated to saving animal lives, rescuing pets in imminent danger of euthanasia, spaying/neutering and adoption of homeless animals into appropriate, loving homes. We also provide assistants to pet owners in need. We are a no-time-limit rescue and no adoptable animal is euthanized. Many of our animals come from Animal Control Facilities (the pound) just prior to their scheduled euthanasia. Ill and/or injured animals brought to us by Good Samaritans are often given priority. Owner surrenders and strays are accepted when space is available.
It is our job to first and foremost advocate for the animals' needs, which is why we have the application process. This way, we can help our rescue pets, and potential adopters, find the perfect fit to prevent any stress or traumatic changes for the animals and humans involved. We know our rescue animals well; it is not our policy to adopt to the first adoption application, but rather to whomever will be the best home fit for the animal. The first step is to complete the adoption application (attached at the top of the page-if you have difficulty, please contact us and we will be sure to help you!). You must also give your most current vet contact information, or the vet most recently used in the past. Be sure to call the vet office that you list and let them know that you have listed them as a contact and that it is okay for them to share your information. Once the application is received and the vet is contacted, we will be sure to contact you. We will then set up a home visit with the animal of interest. From there, we will be in touch with you. The adoption fee covers all of the vetting (updated on vaccines, spay/neuter, heartworm/flea-tick prevention). You will receive a portfolio with all of your rescue pet's information and medical records, as well as a copy of the adoption contract. We require that you sign an adoption contract upon adoption in order to ensure the safety of the rescue pet in any event. Being a non-profit organization means that all of our adoption fees and donations go directly toward the care of each of the animals. By adopting a rescue animal, you are saving several lives-that of your new rescue pet, as well as the next animal in need behind them...and of course, bettering your own life. By rescuing, you are opening a spot for another animal to be taken in, and your adoption fee goes directly toward the care and vetting of that animal in need. There is a 2-4 day waiting period before adoption is finalized to ensure adequate evaluation time and also to eliminate spur-of-the-moment decisions to adopt. Waiting 2-4 days before finalization allows you, the applicant, time to reflect on your decision to adopt to eliminate a poor experience for the animals and for the adopting families. The animal's welfare is our primary concern. Please consider rescuing-there are so many in need. Complete our adoption application today, and/or feel free to contact us regarding our adoption process! mailto:furgetmenotrescue@gmail.com
