Adoption Process

How to adopt an animal that is listed at the SPCA: 1.) Make your appointment to come into the SPCA to view animals. 2.) After you have selected your appointment, you must fill out the “Dog Adoption Survey” or “Cat Adoption Survey”. Both forms will be linked to the appointment slot on the calendar. Our Adoptions Team must have this information before the appointment so that Matchmakers can help find the right fit animal for each adopter. 3.) Bring any family members who will be living with your new companion! This ensures everyone gets along and it is a good fit for all. Please bring any other dogs in the home for a meet and greet at the shelter. 4.) Adoptions are processed the same day. All of our paperwork is done electronically and payments are accepted through a contactless method. Adoptions are processed in the order that they are received. We require that all adopted dogs leave our center wearing a collar and leash. All cats must be transported in a carrier while wearing a collar. Necessary items can be purchased at our boutique. We also require all of our adopters and fosters to be at least 18 years of age or older. How to adopt an animal that is listed in foster: 1.) Please fill out either the “Dog Adoption Survey” or “Cat Adoption Survey”. 2.) Once your survey is filled out, a member of our adoptions team will reach out and connect you with the foster to do a virtual meet n’ greet! Please allow 24-72 hours for Matchmakers to connect you. 3.) After your virtual meet n’ greet, Matchmakers will reach out with the opportunity to finalize the adoption. If a further in-person meeting is requested, you can schedule this with our adoptions team at the center. Bring any family members who will be living with your new companion!
