Adoption Process

We’re glad you are considering adopting a new pet from us. So that we can assist you with your selection of a new pet, the information below is required. Also, the completion and submission of our Adoption Form is required. This form, along with a consultation with a Fat Kitty City Humane Society representative, are designed to help us determine if the adoption is in the animal’s best interest and to assist you in finding an animal most compatible with your lifestyle. In order to be considered as an adopter you must: 1. Be 21 years of age or older 2. Have government-issued identification showing your present address 3. Have the knowledge and consent of your landlord 4. Be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for a pet. Completion and submission of the Adoption Form does not guarantee adoption of an animal from the Fat Kitty City Humane Society. An adoption counselor will contact you to discuss your adoption application within 24 hours. If approved, you may view available animal(s) at the Fat Kitty City Sanctuary (adoptions are by appointment only Tuesday - Saturday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm) or at our Petco and PetSmart adoption venues. To expedite adoption, we suggest that you fill out and submit the Adoption Form agreement prior to arranging to attend a PetSmart adoption event.
