Eunoia Rescue - Charleston Pet Shelter

Eunoia Rescue

Eunoia Rescue is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization located in Charleston, South Carolina. We are dedicated to saving lives of homeless animals in South Carolina by pulling them from the euthanasia lists of local shelters and placing them in loving homes until they are adopted. We generally have between 50-80 animals in our rescue at any point in time. The word “eunoia” means “beautiful thinking” and we are hopeful we can turn our beautiful thoughts for these animals into reality by giving them safe, loving, forever homes. We are completely foster based and do not have a facility to house our dogs. Because of this we cannot bring a dog into our rescue without having a foster home lined up. We are so thankful for our foster families - we could not do this without them! The rescue provides all of the needed supplies for the foster family, and we also cover all medical expenses of the foster animal. Because we are a private nonprofit, we do not receive any financial support from the government. Most of our animals come to us with medical issues, a significant amount of those having Heartworms. With illness comes expense, and we rely entirely on donations to continue our mission. All donations can be used as a tax write off, and we are so grateful for the support because without it we could not continue saving lives. Eunoia Rescue is always looking to expand our team. Interested in fostering? Contact us! Maybe you work from home and have flexibility in your week? Transport our pups to medical appointments! Want to be involved, but can't because of your home life? Chaperone a pup for a Pampered Pup Day! It takes a village to run a rescue operation, so we are always looking for extra hands! If you are interested, please fill out the contact form and click on the drop down tabs to learn more about how you can get involved. Thank you for supporting our beautiful thought!

Adoption Process

Dogs - 1. Fill out an adoption application by using our online website form and pay the application processing fee. 2. Once approved, a virtual home check will be conducted. 3. If the home check goes well, we will schedule a meet and greet with the dog we have mutually decided may be a good fit for you. All of our animals are in foster homes, so the meeting will be dependent upon the availability of the foster. 4. Next, you will sign a foster contract to allow a trial period. 5. After everyone has been introduced properly, and a foster contract has been signed, you may choose to begin a trial period in your home. This is a 1-2 week time to allow the family and animal to get to know each other well, and to ensure everything is a perfect match. Please give your dog 3-4 days to decompress in your new home, before making a decision. You must keep the Eunoia Rescue collar and Eunoia Rescue ID Tag on the dog at all times during the trial period. 6. In order to finalize the adoption, the adoption fee must be paid and the contract must be signed. You will be required to return all Eunoia belongings such as: collar, tag, leash, crate, etc that you borrowed during your trial. 7. Please join our Eunoia Alumni Facebook Page to keep up to date on all of our upcoming events & news! 8.
