Our primary goal is to place the dogs we rescue into a home where they will be forever loved and cared for as members of the family. We work hard to find our dogs homes with people who are the best possible matches and who will provide safety, love, and all necessary care for the lifetime of the animal.
The adoption process includes a comprehensive adoption application which asks for details about the prospective adopter’s home, family, and past experiences with dog ownership. The information provided helps us to find the best possible adopters for our animals. If your application, along with the 3 personal (non-family member) references, and the veterinary reference we require, is approved, we will schedule a virtual home tour meeting with the adopters. During this meeting, we will evaluate the living environment for the dog, discuss the personality of the particular dog, adoption process, transport, quarantine requirements, and the post-adoptive decompression period. In general, we hope to have most of our dogs adopted out before they reach Maine. Expect that you may have to wait a period of time before welcoming your new companion to your home, as we finish required veterinary care, quarantine, and arrange transportation.
