The mission of Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue is to rescue neglected and abandoned Dogue de Bordeaux, rehabilitate and re-home them into loving forever homes. Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue was founded on July 24,1997 when a female Dogue de Bordeaux, later named Meg was found wandering the streets of New York and taken to a shelter. Since that time, Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue has gone through some major changes. From being a 501(c)7 under the wing of the Dogue de Bordeaux Society of America, to being its own separate entity called Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue with 501(c)3 charitable status in 2008. From being a smaller group of fanciers of the breed that handled a few dozen dogues a year to a large group of volunteers who assist several hundred dogues a year and needing more volunteers to assist the ever growing number of dogues who need our help. From having a rescue coordinator handling the whole country, to having a Board of Directors and Regional Directors each handling a region of the country. To having full blown committees to handle different aspects of rescue such as fundraising, events, website, social media, Petfinder and breed education. Our objective and mission has not changed since Meg, to Rescue, Rehabilitate and Rehome Dogues de Bordeaux in need and to educate the general public on this magnificent breed, the Dogue de Bordeaux.
Adoption fees are based on the age and health of each Dogue. Adoption fees help offset veterinarian and spay/neuter costs. All rescues are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, have tested negative for heart-worm and are micro chipped before being placed. Completed application and reference/home check required. We do NOT ship or fly rescues as it’s too stressful on them. If you are interested in any of our rescues, please complete our adoption application.
