Founded in 1967, DFW Humane Society is a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter dedicated to giving neglected and unwanted pets a second chance in life through adoption. Each year, we rescue over 900 pets and provide daily care, food, and enrichment until we find their perfect human match. With no federal or state funding, our pets rely solely on caring people like you to fund our operations. In addition to daily care, we maintain a restricted fund, the Guardian Angel fund, that allows DFW Humane Society to rescue injured and sick pets and arrange for necessary medical treatments so that they can live a full, long, and healthy life. DFW Humane Society is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit. Charitable contributions to the DFW Humane Society are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. Our tax identification number is 75-1433154.
DFW Humane Society aims to make our adoption process a positive and open experience for all of our potential adopters. We also strive to ensure that our pets go to loving, lifelong homes. In most cases, you can take the pet home with you the same day! To complete the adoption process. you will need to meet certain requirements. 1. You must be at least 18 years of age. 2. You will need to bring a government-issued photo ID showing your current address. If the address on your government-issued photo ID is outdated, you must provide a copy of a recent bill, such as a utility or phone bill, or a copy of a lease or insurance with your current address. When you have found your perfect pet and spent some time with them here at the shelter, you will complete an adoption application for review by an adoption counselor.
