Our mission is to actively promote the humane treatment of animals and positive human-animal relationships. We strive to be a resource to our community and a go-to place to learn about animal care, welfare, ethics and treatment.
1. Find your perfect pet - Currently, you will not be able to meet with an animal prior to adoption. Fill out an general application first, stating which pet you are interested in somewhere in the email, and if you are given a general approval, one of our adoption counselors will call to go over the animal’s personality. Please call 608-781-4014 if you have any questions. 2. Fill out an adoption application. - Fill out an application and email the application to crhsanimals@yahoo.com. If you choose to fill in the application by hand, please make certain to print legibly, if we can’t read your handwriting we may not be able to process your application. We have an outside drop off box in front of the building, if you are unable to email them. We strongly encourage applications to be emailed though. Please make sure only one person in your household fills out an application. The person who fills out the application will be the person expected to come in and sign the contract for the pet, if approved. Please make sure you fill out all fields. Any areas outlined in blue or with blue text are staff only please leave those areas blank. In order to process your application faster, we recommend attaching proof of current rabies and distemper vaccinations for any resident cat(s) and/or dogs. 3. Hooray! You got the call and you’ve been approved! Now what? If your application is approved, CRHS staff will call you within 24 hours to schedule an appointment to return to CRHS to complete the adoption process and take home your new best friend! You should plan for 20 – 30 minutes to complete the adoption paperwork and pay the adoption fee. Remember to bring a collar and leash or a secure carrier for your new companion animal. We strive to send home an adopted animal the same day if time permits. If not, you have a 3-day window to pick up the adopted animal. Adoption Contract Requirements: New companion animal’s first health exam (within the first 14 days). Rabies vaccination and licensing up to date (within 30 days of adoption or reaching 5 months of age). Licensing is required at time of adoption for any animal that has a current rabies vaccination. Spaying/neutering your new companion animal (within 30 days of reaching 6 months of age.). A staff member will contact you within a few weeks, via phone, to see how you and your new companion animal are getting along, and to listen to your feedback about our adoption process.
