Collie Rescue League Of New England

The Collie Rescue League of New England, Inc. is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization serving all of New England and eastern New York. The League is dedicated to the preservation and well- being of the breed of dog known as the Collie. It is the mission of the Collie Rescue League to provide rescue, placement, problem intervention services and education for and about purebred Collies. This mission is fulfilled by taking in homeless and unwanted Collies from private sources as well as pounds and shelters, providing them with all necessary medical care including spaying or neutering and evaluation within the safety and comfort of screened foster homes. It is further the mission of the League to accept and screen adoption applications to ensure the appropriate adoption of each Collie into a loving and responsible household.

Adoption Process

If you are interested in adopting a collie, please download an adoption application, or call us at 800-296-3265 and we will mail or email an application to you. Then fill out the adoption application and mail it to us at the address provided on the top of the application form. We do not accept emailed or faxed applications. One of our members will contact you within 5 business days after the vet reference is obtained to schedule a “home visit”. We are presently doing only phone home visits due to the pandemic. Once we are finally cleared to do in-person home visits we will resume them and a volunteer will contact you to come to your home to meet you, your family members, and, of course, any pets that live in the home. If either the applicant or the volunteer is uncomfortable with an in-person visit, the process can be completed by phone. After the visit we send a home visit report back to the board with any changes to the original application. Sometimes we find that potential adopters are open to a broader range of collies than indicated on their application. The waiting period for adopting one of our collies varies. It depends heavily on what collies enter CRLNE and when they are ready for their new homes. Each adoption is a very thoughtful process and is not based on first-come, first-served. We thank you in advance for your patience, as we are an entirely volunteer-run organization.
