The City of Washington Animal Control & Adoption Facility opened May 1993 to serve the residents of the City of Washington and Daviess County. The shelter houses stray and unwanted pets in a modern and up to date facility. Animals are available for adoptions to qualified applicants. The Animal Control Department picks up stray and unwanted animals, traps nuisance cats, rescues animals, removes dead animals from the streets and other properties, gives programs to various groups when requested to do so.
