City Of Elderly Love - Skippack Pet Shelter

City Of Elderly Love

It all started with a little old pit bull named Jema. Jema was rescued from Philadelphia's animal control shelter in 2010. She lived three great years with her adoptive family and during that became a certified therapy dog and touched the hearts of many. Jema sparked the idea of City of Elderly Love and fueled the realization of need for more life-saving options for Philadelphia's homeless senior pets. We at City of Elderly Love believe that every animal is an individual regardless of species, breed type, size, gender and age. City of Elderly Love aims to help as many senior pets as possible spend the best years of their lives in loving homes rather than their story end in a crowded shelter. Each year, Philadelphia's open-admission animal control shelter takes in around 20,000 stray, lost and unwanted animals. City of Elderly Love partners with animal control and other Philadelphia-area animal shelters to save their urgent senior pets from euthanasia. Additionally, we work with members of the community to help prevent seniors from entering the shelter-system to begin with.
