The vision for the Clarksdale Animal Rescue Effort and Shelter (501c3) is to provide a safe haven for our community's animals, increase awareness of shelter pet availability, and inspire a sense of pride and responsibility for our community's shelter pet population. In October of 2017, this vision became a reality as CARES moved into a new building. In addition to holding all of our animals indoors, this space boasts 2 adoption rooms, a kids' education room, a volunteer center, a dedicated medical room, and space for community programs.
If you would like to adopt one of our animals, you must first apply. Applications usually take between 24-72 hours to be processed. Thank you! Fostering volunteers provide a temporary, loving home for adoptable puppies or animals. Fostering allows a parent to learn about a pet’s personality so that it may be better matched for a forever home. Our current foster families have been tremendous in allowing puppies time out of the shelter so that they may be transported to adoptable families.
