Founded in 1995, we are a 501(c)3 not-for-profit English Bulldog Rescue organization based in South Florida.
Here’s how the Buddies Thru Bullies adoption process works! Please be aware that those involved in the process are volunteers who have “real jobs,” family responsibilities, pets to care for and many also care for foster dogs. 1. Within approximately a week of receiving your application, our adoption intake volunteer will send you an orientation email that you need to read and acknowledge receiving. (Please make sure you send your application to the address on the form, not our P.O. Box as that will delay processing). Check email regularly and your spam folder just in case the email went astray. 2. The volunteer will verify your vet and/or personal references listed on your application. 3. Within a week of receiving your orientation email acknowledgement, the volunteer will contact you by phone for an interview and answer any general questions you have about bulldogs and rescue dogs in general. 4. If the above is completed and satisfactory, your information will be forwarded to the rescue coordinator in South Florida who has knowledge of all the dogs that are available in foster care and can discuss possible matches with you. She will be arranging for a volunteer to do your home visit which will be at a time mutually agreeable to you and the volunteer. You may expect calls from her within two weeks as to home visit arrangements and discussion of dog options. 5. If you haven’t been contacted and it’s longer than the general timeline above, please email sbrill@aol.com to check on whether your application has been received. Many rescue organizations respond to your application only at the time they have a dog that is a possible match. Please be aware that we try to acknowledge all applications per the steps above. If you are interested in adopting, we encourage you to start the preapproval process even if you don’t have a particular dog in mind. As new dogs come in, those who have completed the approval process are “in the loop” and will be contacted if a new suitable match comes in. We cannot tell you how long it will take for you to adopt a dog as we never know what bullies are going to be coming to us needing rescue and which will be a match for you. But the more flexible you can be about age, sex, conformation, housetraining, and behavioral and medical needs, the more options you’ll have to adopt a great bullie!
