The Broome County Dog Shelter has been in operation since 1956. Although Broome County allows use of their housing facility for dogs, the shelter operates independently of County funding. The Broome County Dog Shelter is supported through contracts with ten towns to house stray adoptable dogs and puppies, as well as through redemption fees, adoption fees and donations to our trust fund.
If you are looking for a furry friend to bond with for life, please give us a call (607-778-2493) or send us an email (muttsrus@broomecounty.us). Our knowledgeable staff will guide you through the process of finding the perfect pet. We first ask that you fill out our questionnaire for a specific dog as the first step in the inquiry process. Once that has been filled out and submitted , staff will review the questionnaire. Based on the information provided and the needs of the dog, staff will reach out to potential adopters. If you are not contacted by staff it is your responsibility to reach out by calling the shelter. Please allow time for questionnaires to be reviewed.
