Boston Terrier Rescue Of North Texas

The Boston Terrier Rescue of North Texas began in the late 1980's when it became evident that there was a need to help Bostons in need. Thus, the humble beginnings of the Boston Terrier Rescue of North Texas. Calls poured in weekly from pounds and individuals about Bostons of all sizes, ages, shapes and colors needing homes. Rescue of today is one that is dedicated to educating the general public about making good choices when selecting a breed and, secondly, the right Boston for their situation. Over 1,000 Boston Terriers have been successfully adopted to loving homes since we began. It is through hard work and dedication to this very active and amusing breed that this organization can contribute its successes. "Thank you" to all of you who believe in recycling love. We help dogs with serious medical problems because we believe, whenever possible, that every dog should have a chance for a happy, healthy life. Unfortunately, our veterinary expenses often far exceed the amount of the adoption donation, and we must rely on dog lovers like you to provide financial assistance.

Adoption Process

Boston Terriers are great pets for the right owner/family. Each dog breed has different personality traits, grooming requirements, health issues and more. Please be sure to read more about this breed before investing in a commitment. Adopting a dog is a commitment for life! We only adopt to homes in the state of Texas and surrounding states (Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma & Arkansas). Adoptions to other states are rarely done and on a case-by-case basis. Most of our foster homes are located in the DFW area. You must be willing to meet our fosters to adopt a Boston Terrier through our rescue. Please make sure you fill out the adoption application in its entirety to include all phone numbers requested. Missing information will slow or delay the adoption process. A good phone number and email address is also necessary so we can communicate with you regarding your application to adopt. This information is necessary to conduct all required screenings prior to approval for adoption. We need the following information on current and past pets: Heartworm preventative; Vaccinations; All pets are spayed / neutere. *Note: Please notify your Veterinarian we will be requesting this information so they will release it to our rescue. If you do not have a current Veterinarian, you must include name and phone number of the clinic you are going to use so we can do a post adoption follow up. If we are unable to verify the above information, your application may be declined. The spay / neuter requirement may only be waived if you are a reputable individual who competes in AKC show dog competitions or breed for the purpose of AKC show dog competitions and it can be verified or if your current dog has a medical reason preventing them from being spayed / neutered and your Veterinarian can verify. Upon approval of your adoption application, an Adoption Coordinator will contact you via email or telephone to match you/your family with one of our available Boston Terriers. Once a dog has been identified as a good match for the home, the foster home will contact you to schedule a time to meet the dog as well as conduct the home visit. If you pass the home visit and the meet and greet goes well (the dog is a good match for your home/family and any existing pets in the home) a 72-hour trial period will begin at that time. The foster will collect the signed adoption contract as well as the adoption fee prior to leaving. Once the 72-hour trial period has expired, the adoption will be finalized. There is a non-refundable application fee of $20. If you have any questions regarding the approval process and/or the availability of a specific dog, please contact us prior to paying the fee. We cannot guarantee that any dog you may be interested in at the time of application will be available at the time you of approval. However, we will do our best to match you to a Boston Terrier that will be the best fit in your family/home.
