Adoption Process

Before submitting an application please be sure your entire family is ready to adopt and that you have thoroughly researched the Great Pyrenees. While they are beautiful dogs they are not a breed for beginners nor are they a dog that does well in an apartment setting. We do prefer you have a secure fenced yard and dog experience. After we receive your application we will review it to determine if your family is a good fit for the dog. We are not a first come, first serve rescue but more focused on finding the right fit for you and the dog. If it is determined you may be a potential fit your application will be assigned to one of our team. A telephone interview will be conducted talking to family members to get a sense of what your family, home and lifestyle is like. Your references, including your vet will be called and a virtual home visit will be conducted. Once you are approved you will come meet the dog. If all are in agreement the adoption will take place. Our adoption contract includes you attend an obedience class with your new family member within 6 months. We feel strongly that this creates a bond with the new dog as well as establishes rules for the dog and a relationship with a trainer. It also helps socialize the dog which is so very important with this guardian breed. Our adoption fees $500 for dogs 12 months and under and $450 for adults over 12 months. Kittens are $175. All of our dogs will be altered before the adoption is finalized. All dogs will be heartworm and tickborne disease negative. Cats will be FIV/FeLK negative. All animals are microchipped, up to date on age appropriate core vaccines, on preventives and come with a health certificate.
