Animal Service League, Inc. was originally founded in 1953 by one woman who had a vision and passion to help homeless animals in need in our community. In 1957, ASL was incorporated under New York State law.. Today, ASL strives to maintain this original vision and goal and carry on the work of our original founder. ASL is a non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization. It is primarily concerned with the care and welfare of domestic animals.
All potential adopters are screened for adoption. This screening process includes vet and landlord references and a phone interview/education session. The process takes approximately one week, so please be certain you are willing to work with us prior to submitting an application. A completed adoption application and a conversation with an ASL rep is required BEFORE an appointment may be arranged to meet any animal. Our shelter is currently open by appointment only. Adopters must be 21 years of age or older. ASL has the right to decline any potential adopter. ASL does not do same-day adoptions.
