Animal Refuge Foundation of Wayne County has three main goals: 1) Encourage adoptions of rescued animals. Fostering is the key to saving unwanted animals. ARF and its devoted volunteer team of individuals work through a network of volunteer foster homes. Animals rescued from a County Animal Control facility or Owner Surrender are placed in approved foster homes where they receive loving care until adoptive homes are found. 2) Actively promote low cost spay/neuter programs. Spaying and neutering is the solution to an overpopulation of unwanted pets; Every dog and cat accepted by ARF for its program will be spayed or neutered. This is the first step in reducing the number of unwanted and abandoned animals. ARF also provides reduced rate spay/neuter procedure programs. 3) Provide community education about the problems of homeless pets. Public education is the key to success; Each month many unwanted dogs are euthanized at Animal Control facilities across Georgia. Working with the these facilities and promoting public education and awareness, ARF will work to reduce the number of unwanted dogs and cats in and around Wayne County.
