The Animal Protection Society, Inc. (APS) of Person County is a non-profit organization made possible by dedicated volunteers! We do not receive funding from Person County or any other governmental agency. We rely on donations from generous individuals, businesses, civic organizations, and our fundraising events. Our volunteers are very passionate about rescuing animals in danger and placing them in to loving homes. We do not have a shelter! The animals we rescue are placed in foster homes where their medical needs are taken care of, they receive love and attention, and are socialized – teaching them how to live in a home setting. Promote spay/neuter in an effort to reduce the overpopulation of animals. Place unwanted animals into responsible, loving homes. Educate our community on responsible pet ownership. Rescue animals in danger of being euthanized.
A potential adopter should complete a "Rescue a Pet" application (this may be done prior to meeting the pet). Vets and references listed on your application will be contacted. No animal will ever be adopted to "outside only" homes, as we firmly believe pets have a right to the warmth and safety of the indoors. Some dogs may require a fenced in yard. A home visit will be conducted by an APS representative prior to adoption. A contract must be signed at the time of the adoption. An adoption fee is required to help defray the cost of the pet's spay/neuter and vaccinations.
