Alabama Boston Terrier Rescue - Courtland Pet Shelter

Alabama Boston Terrier Rescue, Inc. (ABTR) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the welfare of the Boston terrier dog breed. We serve the state of Alabama and assist other rescue groups in Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Georgia, and the Florida panhandle. ABTR takes Boston terriers regardless of age and/or medical condition, and places the dog in a foster home. Volunteer fosters provide loving homes where dogs are assessed for personality and training--allowing ABTR to make a great match both for the dog and approved adopters! All dogs in our rescue are spayed/neutered (unless age or health issues prevent this at the time of adoption,) vaccinated, and all known medical conditions are addressed and treated as appropriate before being adopted out.

Adoption Process

Read the following adoption requirements carefully. Then, fully complete/submit application. Incomplete forms will cause delays in the application process. ABTR requests a minimum $10 donation to process applications. Send payment via PayPal to: [email protected] or mail a check to: ABTR Applications, 427 County Road 281, Courtland, AL 35618. Please mark payments "Application Fee for (Your Name)." ABTR dogs are fully vetted at the time of adoption, have been spayed/neutered (unless age or health prohibits,) and have been treated for any current health issues. Adoption fee varies and goes toward the costs of vetting our dogs. ADOPTION FEES: Six months and under - $450, Six to Twelve months - $400, One to Two years - $350, Two years and Older - $300. Mixes, designer breeds and other breed fees may vary. All homes considered for adoption must meet the following criteria: No children under the age of 5 years old living in the home. All pets currently in the home must be spayed or neutered. Vet reference for current/former pet's health care (vaccinations current, all dogs on heartworm prevention and tested annually.) Home visit is required prior to application approval. While there is no restriction on adopting ABTR dogs to apartment homes, not all Bostons will do well in this type of environment due to their high energy level. In the case of adopters who do not have an above-ground fence available, we will consider applicants with a commitment to keep the dog under leash control when outside of the home. "Invisible" fences and unsupervised dog-door use are not approved. Please feel free to discuss these issues and any other questions with ABTR adoption volunteer. Adopters must travel to pick up their adopted pet as ABTR does not use transportation services. Note that volunteers handle the entire process, and we appreciate your patience.
