Adopt A Stray is an all volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) no kill foster care program founded by a small group of dedicated volunteers operating on the philosophy that abandoned and abused animals deserve a chance for better lives. Through the foster care program Adopt A Stray works to deal with the stray overpopulation by taking unwanted and unloved dogs and cats off the streets. Foster homes provide temporary safe refuge until they are placed in a permanent loving home. Adopt A Stray believes that the animal overpopulation crisis can be solved, but not by simply providing an easy means by which pet owners can divorce themselves of their animals so that others can deal with the unwanted pets. Adopt A Stray is dedicated to spaying and neutering to control the number one reason for animal death - pet overpopulation. As a "no-kill" animal rescue group, sometimes we get left holding the bag-or the cat as it happens! Adopt A Stray has many cats that we are providing a lifetime of care for and many of these animals will never be suitable candidates for adoption. Some have litter-box issues, others have aggression towards humans or other animals while some were just never cute enough to be adopted. These animals will have nothing to worry about because we will care for them for the rest of their lives. Adopt A Stray relies exclusively on private donations to provide food and medical care, including the spay/neuter of adoptable pets and feral cats. There are no administration fees or professional fund-raisers to pay. 100% of all DONATIONS go directly to the care of our animals.
Our application process ensures that every adopted animal is placed in an environment where there is appropriate space, human contact, and a commitment to safeguard and care for the animal for its entire lifetime. Our standards are high. The welfare of the animals is paramount in the adoption process. Cat adoption fee of $100 includes spay/neuter, FIV/FeLv testing, vaccinations, microchip (free lifetime registration), worming, flea and parasite treatment.
