Sunshine Rescue Group - San Leandro Pet Shelter

Sunshine Rescue Group is not a shelter, but a team of dedicated volunteers who open their hearts and homes to abandoned and neglected animals until permanent-loving adoptive homes can be found. Working together with the community and public animal shelters we rescue primarily cats, but open our doors to other animals as well. A 100% volunteer-run organization with a mission to rescue abandoned, unwanted kittens, cats and dogs from local communities and shelters. Once in our rescue, we do everything we can to make them as healthy and as highly adoptable as possible. We provide these innocent victims of neglect and circumstance with the best possible life. We are a small organization that was started in 2006. Since then we have grown to include more than 30 volunteers and fosters. Between the hands on help from our volunteers and the much needed donations generously given from the public, we are able to continue one year at a time. We do this job because there are far too many abandoned animals in our local communities that can't ask for help. They need someone to help them find them a loving home. There aren't as many rescue groups and shelters as there are homeless and forgotten animals for such a populated area. All volunteers at Sunshine Rescue Group care about their communities and want to make a difference in the lives of our four-legged friends that have been left behind. Although our organization may be small, we have big hearts and determination to make a difference for our friends and community.
