1. APPLICATION: We must receive a fully completed application from you in order for the adoption process to move forward. If you do not hear from us confirming that we have received your application within 3 days of sending, please call us at 614-470-2851. We will use your application to get a general idea of what characteristics you are looking for in a pet. We will also contact your veterinarian for a reference and ensure your current and/or previous pets are receiving the Basic Standard of Veterinary Care which includes being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and on appropriate preventatives. 2. HOME VISIT: Once your application is provisionally approved, an HMDD volunteer in your area will contact you to schedule a home visit. We perform home visits for all prospective adopters. This visit allows us to get to know you and the environment in which the dog will live. It helps us better determine which dog is the best match for your household and lifestyle. Once your home visit has been completed, we will contact you in approximately 3 to 5 days. If you do not hear from us, please call us at 614-470-2851. Once approved to adopt from us, we will retain your application for 6 months. We strongly encourage you to check our website regularly and plan to attend our monthly adoption event in Columbus, even if it appears that we do not currently have a dog that is a good match for you. We try to keep our dog listings as up-to-date as possible, but occasionally adoptable dogs will be at our event that are not posted. Our adoption fee for purebred pups 12 months and younger is $450, purebred dogs between 1 and 8 years old are $350, and sweet and loving purebred seniors 9 years and older are $250. A $15 service fee will be added if paying by credit card.
