Virginia Paws for Pits (VPFP) is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit rescue based in the Shenandoah Valley specializing in "Pit Bull" type dogs. We work with our local facilities, as well as high-kill shelters in neighboring states, to save dogs in need. VPFP strives to educate the public on the misconceptions associated with these breeds, to promote adoptions, and puts an emphasis on the importance of responsible pet ownership, especially spaying&neutering. It is estimated that an astounding 2,800 Pit Bulls are euthanized in shelters daily. Pit Bulls tend to make up anywhere from 33%-65% of the shelter population and generally only 1 out of every 600 Pit Bulls will ever find a home. Statistically, about 93% of the Pit Bulls that wind up in shelters will be euthanized. These numbers are bleak, to say the least, but with your support we can make a difference for these misunderstood dogs. Since we started, we have placed over 400 dogs in responsible, forever homes. VPFP does not have a physical facility and relies solely on foster homes to house and provide for the dogs in our program. On average, we have anywhere from 25-50 dogs under our care. Please consider helping us in our mission to save lives. 100% of all funding raised goes directly back into the rescue to provide for the needs of the animals in our care and enables us to give more dogs a second chance at a forever home. THANK YOU!
