The Cat's Meow - Dfw - Frisco Pet Shelter

The Cat’s Meow is the largest 501(c)3, all-volunteer feline rescue organization. We are currently conducting rescue efforts in Los Angeles, California, the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex in Texas, as well as the Hampton Roads region of Virginia. As an organization we chose to stand up an all-volunteer, foster-based business model so that 100% of our funds can go directly towards our feline rescue efforts. Because we are an all-volunteer organization, we rely solely on charitable donations. When you donate to our organization, know that every dollar donated goes directly towards our feline rescue efforts, such as lifesaving medical care, spays/neuters and supplies.

Adoption Process

1. Complete and submit the Adoption Application online. Please fill it out completely - the more information we have, the easier it will be for us to make a good match. 2. If you have not yet met the cat(s) you wish to adopt, come to an adoption event or schedule a foster home visit to meet the cat(s). Everyone is welcome at our weekly adoption events, however we cannot arrange a visit to one of our private foster homes until we have received your application. 3. If your application is approved, we will contact you within a week to schedule a home visit. One of our experienced volunteers will stop by your home to ensure that you are able to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the cat. We may also provide suggestions for integrating the cat into your home environment. 4. We ask for a minimum tax-deductible, charitable donation* of $200.00 for the adoption of an individual cat, or $350 for the adoption of a pair (two cats adopted together). Donations may be made online (via a secure PayPal transaction) or in-person via cash or check. Additional donations are highly encouraged, as they enable us to rescue another cat from the shelter or the streets and provide our cats with comprehensive medical care. The combination of medical care and supplies for each cat typically costs us over $200 per cat. Unfortunately, some cats come out of the shelter very sick and require thousands of dollars of medical care. Because our organization is a non-profit run entirely by volunteers, we rely solely on donations to continue rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned and neglected cats. We were able to rescue the cat you are applying for because of someone else’s donation. Donations are non-refundable. 5. We will have you sign an Adoption Agreement detailing the terms of the adoption. 6. That’s it! You will communicate with the cat’s foster parents to coordinate pick-up. Please always transport your cat in a carrier for safety. 7. We will email or mail you a copy of your Adoption Agreement, a letter confirming your donation, and medical records and microchip information. This usually takes about 2 weeks. In addition to receiving individualized medical care, each of our cats is spayed/neutered, microchipped, tested for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV)/Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), treated for fleas and worms, and vaccinated.
