Singing River Equine Rescue, Inc. (SRER) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization comprised solely of volunteers. The rescue is dedicated to providing emergency relief, care and rehabilitation for abused, neglected and abandoned equines until they can be adopted by informed, caring people who will give them a permanent home.
References submitted will be verified along with a background check. SRER may inspect the property where the equine is to be kept as well as the condition of the other animals on the property. The inspector will make a recommendation to the Board and the adopter/foster will be notified of their decision. Should the adopter/foster fail the inspection, SRER will inform adopter/foster of what improvements need to be made and another inspection will be scheduled. SRER tries to evaluate each equine as best as possible to make a good match for what is requested in the application. SRER recommends the use of a veterinarian to evaluate the equine. If looking for a certain type of event equine, bringing a trainer is recommended to see if the equine meets the required expectations. SRER does not guarantee a perfect match. If the wanted equine is currently at a foster home, the foster parent has the option to adopt the equine first (within a one week period after the equine is posted on the adoption list). If the adopted equine is boarded, SRER will request that the owner or manager of the facility contact SRER if the equine is abandoned.
