Second Chance German Shepherd Rescue - Auburn Pet Shelter

Second Chance German Shepherd Rescue

Second Chance German Shepherd Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer-run, foster-based German Shepherd Dog rescue serving the greater Bay Area and Sacramento/Roseville regions of Northern California. Our primary focus is rescuing German Shepherd Dogs from life threatening situations in overcrowded shelters where they are in danger of being put to sleep. We adopt our dogs into loving, responsible permanent homes. German Shepherd Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered and receive basic veterinary care while they await placement in their permanent homes. We work with area shelters and other rescue groups to develop a network of support for German Shepherd Dogs in need.

Adoption Process

1. Fill out and submit our Adoption Questionnaire. 2. Have a phone interview. 3. Have an in person or virtual home visit - this requires you to be located in East Bay, South Bay, Peninsula, San Francisco and Marin areas or in and around the Fresno, Sacramento and Roseville areas. We do not adopt outside of our volunteer area for the safety of our dogs, as we need to be able to remove them from a home if things are not working out well (e.g. with existing pets). 4. If you do not own your own home, your landlord must sign our Landlord Approval Form.
